Financial breakdown
The financial breakdown is DataGlass's per-product P&L. For every SKU, it computes:
- Gross revenue
- Platform commission and fees
- Allocated ad spend (using True ROAS attribution)
- COGS
- Shipping cost
- Net profit — what actually lands in your pocket
Why it exists
Marketplace dashboards show you GMV. GMV hides the truth: a high-GMV product can be a money loser once you net out fees, ad spend, and COGS. The financial breakdown is the lens that exposes which products are actually profitable.
How to read and edit it
- Read it top to bottom: revenue first, each cost as a deduction, net profit at the bottom.
- Toggle Include VAT in the fees section for cross-border items.
- A blue + on a row means you can edit that input (commission, voucher, ad spend, …). A purple + means you can simulate it — a preview that isn't saved.
- As you stage edits or simulations, the table shows Original → Preview → Diff side by side, so you see the impact before committing.
- Click Apply changes to write your real (blue) edits back to the product; simulated (purple) values are previews only and are discarded.
Return costs
Two return-related lines appear in the breakdown:
- Return & Damage (under Misc) — the unrecoverable loss when a unit comes back, amortized per sale (your measured return rate × the damage on one returned unit).
- Reverse Shipping (under Shipping) — the seller-borne return-freight per sale. Like ad spend, you can simulate a what-if reverse-shipping cost — click its purple bullet to preview a different figure without saving.
Both always show (at 0 when there's no data) so the full cost picture is visible.
Damage per return
The Return & Damage line multiplies your measured return rate by the loss on a single returned unit. That per-return loss defaults to the item's full COGS — a return treated as a total write-off. If you recover part of a returned unit (or write off more than COGS), set an override in the breakdown settings (the gear above the breakdown, below the VAT and COGS toggles):
- Flat per return — a fixed loss per returned unit, in your shop currency.
- % of COGS — the loss as a percentage of COGS (100% = a full write-off).
Flat wins when both are set. Leave both blank to treat every return as a full loss (100% of COGS). Because the line scales with your measured return rate, a product with no returns shows no cost regardless of this setting.
Sub-features
- Simulate and draft edit — model price or COGS changes before you commit.
- Set margin — define your target margin and let the engine work backwards.
- Product history — see and correct how a variant's name, SKU, and COGS changed over time.
- Net profit & hidden cost — what the two summary figures on a product card mean.
